Instruction
I have been fortunate to work with some great instructors in the past few years. From each of these instructors I have taken bits and pieces of their teaching philosophies and adapted them to help create how I teach. My goal is to continue learning and working to become a better instructor. With this in mind, I have developed the following teaching philosophy which will continue to change as I learn and grow as a teacher:
I believe that there is no perfect golf swing, only a series of acceptable positions that WILL change from player to player. Most of these positions are based on the students body type, and many swing flaws are caused by poor set-up. Thus, when I work with a student I first determine how their body is programed to work and then work on establishing a set-up that fits that individual. “There aren’t too many bad golf swings, but a lot of poor set-ups that cause bad swing positions.”- Mike Adams
I also believe that a student must learn how to transfer what they practice on the range to the golf course, which can be quite difficult in some cases. Thus, I enjoy working on the mental side of the game as much as I do the golf swing itself. I feel that poor course management and lack of confidence contribute to poor scores just as much as an insufficient golf swing.
